LIVE from San Clemente it's Emily the English/PE teacher!

Hello all,

I just wanted to post really quickly to say that I am alive and well and writing from an internet café in Ibarra, the nearest city to me. Things have been pretty good, teaching's a slowly acquired skill I'm learning, and snails do not taste good.

My new host family is very nice but it's been a slower process of getting to know them than my family in Quito (who I already miss...my Quiteña mamá called me my first night away to see how I was doing!)...but that's due in part to the culture I'm now living in. It's not cold, it's just more quiet in many ways... which is really cool to experience but a struggle at times. So far so good though and it gets better every day.

So I'm doing just fine and I'll try to update soon with anecdotes!
