The Last Month. [trying not to freak out]

I have been here for SEVEN MONTHS.

And considering that I have 31 days (counting today) left, that kind of scares me. Mainly because I can hardly believe that I've been here for seven months, and 4 weeks and a couple of days, in comparison, is an even shorter flash of time.

I have no terribly exciting news to report from down here...I've basically been around Quito. Last friday I hung out with my friend Hayley, who is also a Development Studies major at Cal whose found her way down here to Ecuador and who has unenrolled for the year. It was a lot of fun hanging out with her and her fellow hostel-mates (two Americans, two Swedes, a Brit, and an Australian)...good times.

Sunday I was frustrated by Ecuador's tie with Brazil (I should be grateful for a tie, it's Brazil, but Ecuador had possession for about 65% of the match...ay).

Last night I had to say goodbye to my friend Heidi (a volunteer friend of my classmate Emily) and send her off to the States...not fun but our paths will cross soon enough and she's super happy to be going home.

Other than that, I'm just trying to get my work done here at the office (wooooo exciting) and get some serious work done on my final paper (ayyyyyyyy) and all of that. This weekend Emily and I (and potentially some others) are going to Laguna Quilotoa to do the "Quilotoa loop", which basically means checking out the small towns near the lake. I'm excited!

I hope you're doing well!

With love from the "belly button of the world",
Emily
